Who am l?

Hi, I’m Bethan — a neurodiversity mentor & coach based in York (and working online).

I support autistic, ADHD, AuDHD and otherwise neurodivergent adults through strengths‑based, neuro‑affirming coaching. Whether you’re in York or miles away, we can work together online in a way that supports your brain, your energy and your life.

Why work with me?

Holistic neurodiversity coaching Support for autism, ADHD, AuDHD and dyslexia — including the big hitters like time management, organisation, emotional regulation, procrastination and time blindness. If you think every task only takes 15 minutes, you’re in the right place.

Executive functioning support Practical, compassionate coaching to help you build strategies that work for your brain — not the one people think you “should” have.

Experience across education & employment From SEND teaching to workplace inclusion consulting, I’ve spent over a decade supporting neurodivergent people in education, employment and everyday life — including my work within York College supporting autistic, ADHD and otherwise neurodivergent students. Basically, I’ve seen the system from all angles… and I’ve experienced firsthand where it falls short.

Workplace support & accommodations I’ve helped employees and employers navigate reasonable adjustments, inclusive practices and Access to Work. Think of me as a translator between “HR language” and “actual human needs.”

Lived experience As a dyslexic ADHDer myself, I bring honesty, real‑life understanding and an impressive array of embarrassing stories. I get it.

Neuro‑affirming training & qualifications Trained in Clean Language, autism‑specific qualifications, and a whole lot of ongoing CPD focused on neurodiversity. I’m always learning, because who doesn’t want to keep growing.

My story

So, what’s my background? (I hear you asking… or maybe you didn’t, but I’m going to tell you anyway.)

My career started in education, where I spent around ten years teaching in mainstream schools before moving into SEND settings. It was in those SEND classrooms that my passion for supporting the neurodivergent community really took off. I felt at home in a space where different ways of thinking weren’t just accepted — they were expected.

From there, I moved into the employment sector, supporting autistic, ADHD and otherwise neurodivergent adults — both job seekers and people already in work. I worked with employers and employees to create more inclusive workplaces, coached individuals, and delivered training sessions to help organisations understand neurodiversity and adopt more inclusive ways of working.

Later, I stepped into further and higher education, mentoring autistic, ADHD and other neurodivergent students. That experience, combined with my own lived experience as a dyslexic ADHDer, is what inspired me — and where Bethan Read Coaching was born.

Working with the neurodivergent community has been a privilege, and as someone who’s dyslexic and has ADHD myself, it’s a club I’m proud to belong to. Over the past ten years, I’ve had the joy of connecting with neurodivergent individuals from all sorts of backgrounds.

What clients say

“When I accessed Bethan for support, she validated my experiences and offered manageable advice while always considering my neurodiversity and overstimulation. Bethan has a quality many support professionals don’t — she encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone in a controlled, safe way that allowed me to grow.

If you’re considering her as your coach, know that she is incredibly supportive, treats you as an equal, and is fully LGBTQ+ friendly.”
